Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, said in an interview with the media that the U.S. announcement of sanctions against the “Nord Stream-2” gas pipeline project under construction violates international law and violates the principle of free competition in the market, Tass news agency reported.
Antonov said the U.S. has been blocking cooperation between Russia and Europe in the energy sector, hoping to gain a bigger advantage for its energy companies by sanctioning the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project. The right to choose how to use the gas pipeline rests with Europe, not the United States, which will only bring relations to a break-up again.
20, local time, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced a new list of sanctions against the “Nord Stream-2” natural gas pipeline project, joining a number of companies associated with pipeline construction. There are currently 23 business entities and individuals on the list.
