The Singapore Prison Service today (15 May) issued a notice confirming the diagnosis of Coronavirus by a chef at Changi Prison. The Prison Service will test about 5,000 inmates, staff, suppliers and volunteers for the coronavirus.

Activities in the chef’s area of work, such as family visits, counselling, etc., have been suspended and those in close contact with him have been isolated.

Singapore Prison Service also pointed out that the Ministry of Health announced on the 14th to tighten the pandemic prevention measures, so from Monday (May 17), Changi Prison will stop family visits, instead of telephone calls, until further notice.

In addition, due to the recent increase in community cases, from 8 May, all new inmates will be kept in isolation for 21 days.
