According to Armenian media reports, late on May 13 local time, Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Pashniyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks on the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijan border.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the talks that all parties concerned must strictly abide by the previously signed ceasefire agreement and that Russia is willing to continue to maintain close contact with Armenia and Azerbaijan to ensure security and stability in the Naqa region.
Pahinyan said the Asian side has long resolved disputes through political and diplomatic means and agreed to continue dialogue with all parties. He noted that the illegal crossing of the border into Armenia by more than 240 Azerbaijani military personnel was the main reason for the escalation of the situation along the border between the two countries.
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the same day, due to historical reasons, the two countries on the border issue has been controversial, 12 Albanian side has sent border services officials to the disputed areas to negotiate with the Asian side, the Azerbaijani government has taken measures to stabilize the border situation in the Region.
