May 10 2021 U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci said he believes the number of new deaths in the U.S. is underestimated.
On an NBC program, Fauci answered a question from host Chuck Todd about a University of Washington study that suggested the number of pandemic deaths in the United States could be as high as 900,000, The Capitol Hill reported Monday.
When it comes to whether he believes the true number of deaths is so high, Fauci argues that similar models are sometimes correct and sometimes a little offside, “but I think there’s no doubt that we’ve been underestimating (the number of deaths). We are experiencing a historic pandemic that we have not seen in more than a hundred years. ”
According to Worldometer real-time statistics, as of about 6:30 p.m May 10, a total of 33475283 cases of coronavirus pandemic had been confirmed in the United States, with a cumulative total of nearly 600,000 deaths, reaching 595,811. Both figures are the highest in the world.
