She gave a positive answer to a question about whether that meant the United States supported Ukraine’s nato membership.
In addition, U.S. Secretary of State John Blinken said during a visit to the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Saturday that the United States is “actively considering” strengthening cooperation with Ukraine in the security field.
In December 2014, Ukraine’s Supreme Rada amended two laws to give up the country’s non-aligned status. In June 2016, other amendments were passed to make NATO membership a national foreign policy goal. In February 2019, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted a constitutional amendment that sets out Ukraine’s approach to EU and NATO membership. Ukraine has become the sixth country to gain NATO’s status as an enhanced partner.
