Ivory Coast’s military fire department said on May 2nd that at least 17 people were killed and 14 injured in a serious traffic accident in the north-central part of the country when two cars collided.
The military fire department said that a cargo truck 2 in the north-central Ivorian city of Bouake to the city of Catiola on the way to a passenger bus head-on collision, resulting in the above casualties. The passenger bus was badly damaged after it was hit, with several passengers trapped inside and firefighters having to use heavy machinery to rescue them.
According to the National Road Safety Office of Ivory Coast, an average of about 600 people die in traffic accidents each year.
