April 22, local time, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and the National Emergency Management Agency for Emergency Crisis and Disasters announced the suspension of all passenger flights to and from India.
Passengers transiting through other countries from India may not stay in the transit country for less than 14 days before entering the UAE. The decision, which began in the early hours of the 25th, is tentatively scheduled to last 10 days and is likely to be extended.
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority also confirmed that cargo flights with India will continue to operate as usual.
In addition, UAE citizens, diplomatic missions between the two countries, official delegations and holders of golden residence visas are not subject to a 14-day stay in a third country, provided that they take preventive measures, including mandatory multiple quarantines.
The UAE route to and from India is currently one of the busiest in the world. Before the ban was announced, there were about 300 flights a week between the UAE and India.
