Panama says a drug dealer’s white cat has been caught trying to transport drugs to a prison. The cat was stopped outside a prison in Panama’s Colon province on Thursday while carrying a bag containing contraband around its neck, Fox News reported Wednesday, citing Agence France-Presse. Andres Gutierrez, head of Panama’s prison system, said the animal had a cloth around its neck containing white powder, leaves and “plant-like substances.” Another official said the substances could be cocaine and marijuana.
Local prosecutors say they have opened an investigation into the use of animals to smuggle illegal drugs into the prison, which houses more than 1,700 inmates. Meanwhile, the criminal cat will be sent to a pet adoption center. It is reported that this is not the first time panama has used small animals to transport poison. Panama had previously intercepted pigeons used to transport poison.
