April 15 Turkey’s foreign minister has confirmed that the United States has cancelled a warship’s voyage to the Black Sea, according to the latest news from Russia’s satellite news agency.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources said the U.S. Embassy in Turkey informed Turkey to cancel sending two warships through the Bosphorus strait into the Black Sea.
It was initially reported that the destroyers USS Roosevelt and USS Donald Cook would sail into the waters on 14 and 15 April, respectively, until 4 and 5 May, respectively.
Russian media said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had said that the U.S. warship’s move into the Black Sea was accompanied by provocative remarks and that Moscow did not know what Washington was trying to do.
