April 6th local time, WHO held a regular press conference on COVID-19. WHO Director-General Tedros said that investment was needed in the fair production and provision of rapid COVID-19 testing tools, treatment supplies and vaccines.
At present, 190 countries and economies have begun to vaccinate against the novel coronavirus, and the COVID-19 Vaccine Implementation Plan has provided 36 million doses of vaccine to 86 countries and economies.
Tedros stressed that expanding the scale of vaccine production and the equitable distribution of vaccines remain the main measures to deal with the epidemic, while health workers and high-risk groups in some countries are still not vaccinated.
WHO continues to call on governments to share vaccine doses and distribute vaccines, rapid detection tools and therapeutic drugs equitably, and WHO will also consider working with vaccine manufacturers to increase overall vaccine production.
