February 21 The Ecuadorian Electoral Commission announced the official results of the presidential election count held on the 7th, identifying Andrés Arlaus, the candidate of the Hope Alliance representing the center-left Front, and Gillette, the candidate of the Right-wing party Creating Opportunities Movement Christian Socialist Party Alliance.

The official results of the tally showed that Araus and Lasso received 32.72% and 19.74% of the votes respectively, entering the second round of voting to be held on April 11.
The electoral law of Eritrea stipulates that in the presidential election, the candidate who gets more than half of the votes in the first round of voting, or who obtains more than 40% of the vote and is more than 10 percentage points ahead of the second candidate is elected president.
If the above conditions are not met, the candidate with the top two votes enters the second round of voting and the majority of votes is elected.
