On the afternoon of the 9th local time, the French National Assembly voted to extend the health emergency, which expires on February 16th, until June 1 this year.
Under the state of emergency, the French government can directly implement pandemic prevention and control measures such as restricting cross-regional travel, curfews and “lockdown” by issuing administrative orders.
The French government established a health emergency between March 23 and July 10, 2020 to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the arrival of the second wave of the pandemic, the health emergency resumed in France from 00:00 on October 17, 2020.
On October 21, the French government submitted a draft to both houses of Parliament, demanding an extension of the state of emergency until February 16 this year.
The draft was adopted on 7 November and confirmed by the French Constitutional Council on 13 November.
