February 5th – On the morning of the 4th local time, a toxic substance leak occurred in Ontario, California, in a Chinese-populated area.
In an oral medical center, 28 people were treated at the scene after feeling unwell, and another 9 people were taken to the hospital due to serious poisoning.
According to ABC on the 4th, Phillips Oral Medical Center, which caused the leak, is located near 1700 South Baker Street. The Ontario Fire Department said that firefighters arrived at the scene at 8 a.m. and provided on-site treatment for some of the injured.
Aerial footage of helicopters on local television shows that in the temporary treatment area in front of the building, medical staff are asking about the condition of the poisoned people, some of whom are covered with blankets on their shoulders.
Scott Roeber, director of the Ontario Fire Department, said that the nine people taken to the hospital are currently in stable condition and have no worries about their lives.
The specific cause of the spill is still under investigation.
