The National Commission on COVID-19 and Criminal Justice recently released a research report that the incidence of homicide in the United States in 2020 surged by nearly 30% compared with the previous year.

U.S. media reported that the sample survey of 34 U.S. cities such as New York, Chicago and Milwaukee found that the incidence of homicide soared sharply in June last year, which was closely related to the violent death of an African-American man Freud by the U.S. police at the end of May, which triggered large-scale protests in China.

The report believes that the reasons for the significant increase in homicides in 2020 include: the increase in social inequality caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, and social tension caused by police violent law enforcement incidents.

Investigators call on the U.S. government to take measures to curb the spread of the epidemic and effectively combat illegal acts such as violent crimes.
