It is reported that at the time of the explosion, the loud explosion sounded through the night sky, which could be heard throughout the city and nearby residential areas.
The four-storey building of the Tsamis Hotel where the explosion occurred was turned into a pile of debris due to the explosion.
The explosion caused the glass, fragments of various objects and metal objects scattered around the hotel, up to 80 meters away.
According to the report, a fire brigade with 15 firefighters and 5 vehicles rushed to the scene immediately due to the fire caused by the explosion.
For security reasons, police blocked the main road to the city of Castoria in the area where the hotel was located and set up a cordon not far from the hotel.
The West Macedonian Regional Fire Department and the Castoria Police Department announced that the owner of the hotel where the explosion had occurred confirmed that the hotel was not open and that there was no one in the building at the time of the incident.
According to the introduction, the hotel originally had 80 beds and was regarded as an iconic tourist resort hotel in Castoria.
At present, the fire department and the police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
