Dakar, January 15 Bamako news: The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) issued a press communiqué on the 15th that a peacekeeper was killed in an explosion in Kidal district, northeast Mali that day.
According to the communiqué, the convoy of United Nations peacekeepers carrying out logistics transportation tasks near the city of Tessalit in the Kidal District was attacked by explosive devices at about 3 p.m.
on the 15th, seriously injuring two peacekeepers, one of whom died while he was sent to hospital, and the other was currently stable.
According to the communiqué, another explosive device was found not far from the explosion site and has been properly disposed of by MINUSMA.
This is the second attack on MINUSMA peacekeepers this year.
On January 13, after an explosive device attack on a peacekeeping soldier operating in the Tumbutu district, he was attacked by unidentified armed elements, killing four Ivorian peacekeepers.
In 2020, a total of six peacekeepers were killed in attacks in Mali.

In April 2013, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution to establish MINUSMA. In May 2015, the Malian government signed the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement with some armed groups in the northern region.
