Yonhap News Agency reported on January 3 that South Korea’s green and environmentally friendly car exports accounted for more than 10% of the total automobile exports in 2020 for the first time in history, that is, 1 in every 10 cars exported by South Korea are green environmentally friendly cars.
According to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources of South Korea on the 3rd, in 2020, the export value of green and environmentally friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles and hydrogen-fueled vehicles in South Korea was 4.6 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 39.9%.
As a result, the proportion of environmentally friendly cars in total automobile exports increased to 12.3%.
Specifically, as of November last year, the export of electric vehicles such as KONA electric version and NIRO electric version surged by 67.2% year-on-year to 112,254 million; hydrogen-fueled vehicles increased by 24.3% year-on-year to 865.
In addition, total automobile exports fell 41.5% year-on-year in the second quarter of last year, and increased by 1.6% and 1.2% year-on-year in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, showing a recovery momentum.
