According to the Russian Satellite News Agency on December 30, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Mulashko said that the coronavirus epidemic in Russia is still tense, but the number of active patients has decreased by about 4% in the past week.
“The situation is still very tense overall, and we recorded a drop of about 4% in the number of active patients in the last week,” Mulashko told Russia 24 in an interview.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said that 70,921 patients in Russia have died of COVID-19 and more than 45,000 people have died from the impact of COVID-19, but the coronavirus is not the main cause of death.
“70,921 deaths are due to COVID-19, which has been officially confirmed and without question, with the exception being that this number may be adjusted in the coming months due to the daily receipt of updated autopsy data,” Golikova told Russia24.
She stressed that another 45,109 infected people died of other causes. “In all these cases, the dead have tested positive for COVID-19,” she said.
