December 30th –Â The Ohio prison system said on the 29th local time that a death sentence was received for injection in 2009, but a death sentence who survived by chance died recently. He may have died of complications from COVID-19.
According to the Guardian, Ohio said that the death row prisoner is Romell Broom, 64 years old, who has been included in the “suspected list of COVID-19 cases” and is waiting for the relevant death certificate.
On September 15, 2009, Ohio attempted to administer an injection on Bloom, then 53, but failed. After two hours, even Bloom himself was helping, but the executioners still couldn’t find the right veins, so the death penalty was abolished. Bloom cried bitterly after being pricked 18 times.
After the execution failed, Bloom was sent back to death row. His last execution date was set in June this year. However, Ohio Gov. Mike Dewan announced a moratorium on executions in the spring and set a new March 2022 execution date. It is reported that Bloom raped and killed a 14-year-old girl in 1984.
