According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 30th, the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea decided at the Politburo meeting held on the 29th that it will hold the North Korean meeting in early January 2021. The Eighth Congress of the Labor Party.

According to reports, Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Council, and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces attended the meeting. 

The meeting agreed on the composition plan of the presidium and secretarial department and various schedules of the eighth party congress, and reviewed the documents to be submitted to the congress for discussion and approval.

According to a previous report by the KCNA, the Workers’ Party of Korea decided to convene its Eighth National Congress in January 2021 to summarize the work of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party over the past period of time and propose a new five-year plan for national economic development including the direction of work next year.

The 7th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held in May 2016.
