According to a Japanese media report on December 27, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare notified that the mutant virus had spread from person to person for the first time in Japan. A pilot living in Tokyo and his family were diagnosed with the mutant virus reported in the UK.
On December 16, the male pilot returned to Japan from the United Kingdom.
As a pilot, he was not subject to airport quarantine, so he returned home directly.
December 21, he was tested positive for the new coronavirus. Two days later, a female member of his family who had no travel history was also diagnosed with infection.
