New Delhi, December 14 The stealth frigate Snow Mountain built by the Indian navy at the Kolkata Shipyard in West Bengal was launched on the 14th.
At the launching ceremony, Indian Defense Chief of Staff Biping Lawat said that the completion of the stealth frigate Snow Mountain would greatly improve the defense capabilities of the Indian navy.
According to Indian media reports, the frigate Snow Mountain is the first of three stealth frigates built by the Kolkata shipyard. It will be equipped with long-range anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles and anti-submarine weapons.
The ship is 149 meters long, with a displacement of about 6,670 tons and a speed of 28 knots. It is expected to be delivered to the navy in 2023 after completing the test, and the other two ships will be delivered in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
The Indian Navy plans to build seven advanced stealth frigates, and the other four are built by Bombay Shipyard.
