December 14 Tanzanian police said on the 14th that a traffic accident occurred on the afternoon of the 13th in Sinjida Province, central Tanzania, killing 15 people and injuring 2 others.
At a press conference held on the 14th, the head of the Sinjida Provincial Police said that the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on the 13th when a small bus collided with an oncoming truck while trying to overtake.
The police chief said that the victims were all from minibuses, who were scheduled to go to Sinjida Province for the wedding from Mwanza Province in northwest Tanzania.
Traffic accidents occur frequently in Tanzania due to speeding, poor road conditions and old vehicles.
