French President Macron: Addressing climate change requires joint action
Macron stressed in particular that although the United States chose to withdraw from the Paris Agreement three years ago, other countries still joined hands to revitalize the Paris Agreement.
Appreciate the outstanding cooperation between Europe and China.
He particularly appreciated the efforts of the European Union to this end and the outstanding cooperation with China over the years.
In his speech, Macron also highlighted the importance of climate finance and advocated that countries should be coherent in implementing the Paris Agreement and focus on addressing inequality at the national and international levels.
Macron said that all projects currently supported by the French Development Agency are aligned with the Paris Agreement, and France hopes to work with EU partners to build the European Investment Bank into a “climate bank”.
Macron also said that France mobilized nearly 6 billion euros in climate financing in 2019 and will maintain the same size in the next few years. Five years later, France is ready to completely end its support for oil exploration projects.
