The Turkish government submitted a bill to extend the period of military troops to Libya for 18 months.
December 12th, the Turkish presidential palace submitted a bill to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which plans to extend the period of Turkish troops to Libya for another 18 months.
The bill mentions that the situation in Libya poses a risk to Turkey and the whole region, and sending troops is to avoid a renewed attack by the Libyan National Army, which will seriously affect Turkey’s interests in the Mediterranean Sea and North Africa.
According to the bill, Turkey will continue to provide military training and advisory services to Libya under the memorandum of understanding on security and military cooperation signed with the Libyan government of national unity.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly will consider the bill after the conclusion of the budget.
On January 2 this year, the Turkish Parliament passed a bill authorizing the Turkish government to deploy troops to Libya. According to the bill, the Turkish army can send troops to Libya within one year.
