Reuters reported on December 12 that Switzerland has frozen the financial assets of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the Swiss government, Lukashenko and his son Victor were among the 15 people who were banned from entering or passing through Switzerland.

The Swiss government said: “Switzerland is deeply concerned about the continuing tension [in Belarus] and calls for dialogue between the Belarusian government and civil society.”

According to the report, the Swiss government demanded that Belarus release people arbitrarily detained and investigate allegations of torture and ill-treatment by security forces.
