December 11th According to comprehensive foreign media, a mysterious disease of unknown cause recently broke out in Eluluru, Andhra Pradesh, southern India.
Nearly 600 people have been hospitalized for treatment, one person has died, and traces of lead and nickel have been found in the blood samples of the hospitalized patient. Recently, two experts from the World Health Organization have arrived there to investigate the disease.
According to the report, an unknown outbreak of disease occurred in and around Eluru, India, on December 6. Symptoms include seizures of three to five minutes, memory loss, sudden syncope, headache and back pain within a few minutes.
It is reported that a panel of experts from the National Institute of Nutrition, the Institute of Chemical Technology and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences are testing collected water samples, food, urine and blood samples.
Health officials in Andhra Pradesh, India, said that a team from the All India Medical Science Research Institute in Delhi tested 10 blood samples and found traces of lead and nickel.
At present, another 20 samples have been sent from Andhra Pradesh to Delhi for testing. The research team is also testing milk samples in the area. The report also said that this is only preliminary data and needs to wait for the results of further research.
On the other hand, WHO experts are also investigating Eluru and its surrounding areas to collect information, including food sources.
The report pointed out that to the confusion of experts, there seems to be no common connection between hundreds of patients. All patients tested negative for COVID-19 and other viral diseases (such as dengue fever, chikungunya fever or herpes, etc.).
In addition, not all patients live in the same area. They come from different ages, including about 70 children, and almost no elderly people.
