U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo said that there was “fraud” in the election and the election results would not reflect the public opinion of the Commission. How does China comment on this?
Hua Chunyu first asked, Pompeo did not know whether he was the Secretary of State of the United States or the Secretary of State of the world. He really did not put himself in his position.
Hua Chunyu said that China believes that the holding of plenary elections by the Venezuelan people in accordance with its constitution and laws is entirely their internal affairs and should not be unfoundedly criticized by third parties.
That is to say, the outcome of the Venezuelan election should not be decided by Pompeo, but by the Venezuelan people themselves. China adheres to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
We advocate that countries should handle their relations on the basis of treating each other on an equal footing, respecting each other and not interfering in each other.
We call on the United States to respect Venezuela’s democratic system and its practice and play a constructive role in an early political solution to the Venezuelan problem.
