Oman expresses its appreciation for Kuwait’s efforts to promote reconciliation in the Gulf region
According to Oman’s national news agency, on the evening of December 4 local time, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement welcoming and appreciating Kuwait’s unremitting efforts and positive results for reconciliation in the Gulf region.
The statement stressed that this reflects the solidarity among the Arab countries in the Gulf region, and the goal of the efforts is to reach a final agreement, which is conducive to strengthening the development and prosperity of the countries in the region and in the long-term interest of the people of the region.
On the night of the 4th, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Busedi made the same statement on social media.
On December 4, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Sabah told the outside world that consultations aimed at resolving the Qatar’s severance of diplomatic relations crisis had yielded fruitful results, and the parties agreed on cooperation to maintain regional peace and stability.
Relations between Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt have been tense since June 2017, after Qatar severed diplomatic relations on the grounds of “mining regional security” and “supporting terrorism”.
