Zimbabwe’s Transport Minister Matiza died of COVID-19

January 22nd local time, Joel Matiza, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development of the Government of Zimbabwe, died of COVID-19 in the capital Harare at the age of 60.

Matizha also became the fourth current government minister to die of COVID-19 in Zimbabwe.

Nick Mangawana, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Press, Advocacy and Broadcasting Services of the Government of Zimbabwe, has confirmed the death of Matiza.

Born in August 1960, Matiza joined the army in 1977 to participate in the liberation war, became a member of parliament in 1999 and has been the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development in 2018.
