According to local media in Zambia recently, Sylvia Boualia, acting public relations manager of the Zambian Election Commission, said that the Zambian Election Commission has learned that images and information about minors have registered as voters in the country’s general election circulating on social media.

After preliminary investigation, the The photo was taken, but the Zambia Election Commission is still investigating the matter and will inform the public of the results of the investigation.

To register as a voter in the Zambian general election, you must be a Zambian citizen aged 18 and older and must have a green voter registration card.

Any failure to comply with the requirements to try to register as a voter will constitute an offence and be prosecuted. Therefore, the Zambian Electoral Commission calls on the public to put an end to this violation and report any attempt to register voters in violation to the Zambian Election Commission or the nearest police station.
