According to local media reports, the Chairman-in-Office of the African Union and President Ramaphosa of South Africa called on African leaders to work together to stop violence and terrorism in Africa at the virtual meeting of African Heads of State and Government.

Ramaphosa once again reaffirmed the current goal of the AU’s commitment to taking comprehensive and successful practical action to control the total number of firearms in Africa.

Ramaphosa also said that in addition to controlling the total number of firearms, African countries should actively seek to achieve their sustainable development goals in the next decade, including eradicating poverty, hunger and achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth
