Zambia Ministry of Health: Zambia is experiencing a second wave of COVID-19. Variant strains of the novel coronavirus have been detected.

According to Zambia’s National Broadcasting Corporation, on December 30, local time, Zambia’s Minister of Health Chitaloo Chilufi Adamtian said at the country’s regular press conference on the epidemic that Zambia has begun to experience the second wave of COVID-19 from the recent rapid growth of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Zambia.

In addition, Zambia has detected a variant strain of COVID-19 and is similar to the variant strain of COVID-19 previously found in South Africa and some European countries. This mutant strain spreads faster than before, and will infect more people.
