According to Egyptian media reports on the 7th, Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has allocated 50 million Egyptian pounds (about 3.18 million US dollars) from the public budget for fiscal year 2020/2021 to implement the “Digital Egypt Builder” plan.
The move is intended to promote the development of the ICT and support Egypt’s digital transformation strategy, according to the Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Harrah Said.
She also said that in the FY2020/2021 budget, the total public investment allocated to the industry was Pound10 billion (about 637 million US dollars), an increase of 300% over the previous fiscal year.
Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the “Digital Egypt Builder” program last September.
Each year, the program will provide scholarships to 1,000 outstanding graduates from engineering, computer and information technology, and electronics majors to cultivate the next generation of professionals and realize Egypt’s digital vision.
