Why doesn’t Russian President Putin have the rank of general? Kremlin response

by YCPress

According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency on February 19, a reporter asked Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, during a press conference held before the Russian National Defender, “Why does Russian President Putin still have the rank of colonel?”

Peskov said: “As you know, as a whole, of course, the president should have been awarded the rank long ago, but this is not the most important thing for him at present.

He is president and has a lot of work. That is, he is not an active officer. So of course, his attention is focused on the daily administration of the country.”

In response to reporters’ questions about Putin’s current discharge or reserve officer, Peskov said: “As far as I know, he is a reserve officer.”
