From October 29 to 30, local time, WHO held the fifth meeting of the Coronavirus Pandemic Emergency Committee to assess the global Pandemic situation and provide response suggestions.

After the meeting, the WHO announced that the Coronavirus Pandemic still constitutes a “public health emergency of international concern”.

The Committee expressed appreciation for WHO’s leadership in the global response to Pandemic.

WHO has played a key role in many aspects, including developing evidence-based guidelines, providing technical support and key materials and equipment to countries, providing clear information and handling Misinformation

as well as carrying out solidarity experiments and “acquisition of accelerators for the fight against COVID-19.”

The committee also provided WHO and countries with specific recommendations for the next few months, emphasizing coordinated measures for international travel, monitoring and tracing contacts, maintaining basic health services, and developing plans for Coronavirus vaccine.

The Committee also urged countries to avoid politicizing response measures, which would cause significant damage to global efforts.
