White House says Israel’s bombing of news agency building: Keeping journalists safe is a ‘primary responsibility’

May 15 2021, the White House expressed its concern to Israel about its air strikes on the Gaza Strip. The air strike destroyed the buildings of several news organizations, including the Associated Press.

White House press secretary al-Psaki said on social media that the United States had told Israel directly that ensuring the safety of journalists was a “top priority.”

Before the bombing of the Gaza office building by the Associated Press and Al Jazeera, the military informed everyone inside the building that they needed to leave within an hour. Joel Simon, executive director of the Council to Protect Journalists, said the attack was “worrying.”
