On November 27, 2020 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Park Bing Suk in Seoul.

Park Bingxi asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Park Bing-seok said that South Korea-China relations are vital to the prosperity and stability of both countries and Northeast Asia. 

Seeing the truth in adversity, South Korea and China have supported each other in the fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic and have become a model for the world. 

South Korea spoke highly of President Xi Jinping’s important propositions of upholding multilateralism and openness and inclusiveness put forward at the G20 Summit, and appreciated China’s proposal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. 

The South Korean National Assembly will strongly support the strengthening of South Korea-China relations and hopes that the two countries will establish a parliamentary strategic dialogue mechanism to promote bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation in the fields of environment and climate change.

Taking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity, promote the further development of bilateral relations. 

The South Korean side appreciates China’s important contribution to advancing the peace process on the peninsula and advocates that the leadership of the peninsula issue should be in the hands of the people in the north and south of the peninsula, and the peninsula issue should be resolved through dialogue and cooperation.

It is hoped that China will play a greater role in maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula.

Wang Yi conveyed the cordial greetings from Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress to Park Bing-seok.
