In response to the Japanese government’s decision to discharge water contaminated by the Fukushima nuclear weapon into the sea, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Ministry spokesman Duan Keyue said on the 29th that Vietnam supports the peaceful development and use of nuclear energy by all countries under the premise of ensuring nuclear safety, and that in the event of a nuclear accident, it should work closely with the international community to ensure transparency of information and adopt a responsible approach.

On the same day, Duan said at a regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Vietnam believes that it is vital to maintain regional peace and stability and protect the marine environment and marine resources in accordance with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the relevant provisions of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
