January 15th local time, Utah Department of Health officials said at a press conference that Utah has confirmed a variant COVID-19 infection, which is also the first time that the state has found a variant virus infection.
The case, who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, is male, aged between 25 and 44, has no history of out-of-town travel and currently shows only mild illness, state health officials said.
State health officials also pointed out that it is only a matter of time before the variant novel coronavirus is found in Utah, because the variant virus has spread throughout the United States.
So far, the number of states with variant COVID-19 in the United States has risen to 10, and a total of 77 infected people with variant COVID-19 have been found.
