November 19th CNN broke the news on the 18th that several current Trump administration officials have begun to quietly contact the Biden transition team.
Among those who quietly contacted Biden, in addition to current Trump administration officials, there are also some who have just left in recent months. The US media believe that this phenomenon shows that Trump’s refusal to make concessions in the election and the continued obstruction of the White House have begun to frustrate those who belong to the Trump administration.
The U.S. Administration of General Services has not yet acknowledged Biden’s victory. Because of this, Biden and his team have been prohibited from contacting federal agencies, nor have they been able to obtain funds to support the appointment of new government personnel and access to classified intelligence information.
A Trump administration official confirmed to CNN on the 18th that insiders in the Trump administration have had informal contact with the Biden team, “They know what we mean, what we can and cannot say.”
In addition, some former Trump administration officials said that they regard the contact with the Biden team as a national responsibility rather than a partisan consideration. According to the source, the content of the conversation between the two parties is not as detailed as the intelligence introduction during the formal transition period in the past, but it can at least help the Biden transition team understand the issues they may have to deal with in the future.
Another former official who left the White House a few months ago also revealed that he privately emailed relevant people and said he was willing to help Biden.
