April 9th, local time, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement through a spokesman expressing condolences on the death of Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
The statement said that the Secretary-General of the United Nations was saddened by the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Guterres expressed his condolences to the Queen and the British people.
The statement also said that as a member of the royal family, the Duke of Edinburgh has supported the work of the Queen’s monarch for more than 60 years and has become a patron of about 800 organizations dedicated to charity, especially those focusing on the environment, industry, sports and education.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations praised the Duke of Edinburgh for his active work to improve mankind.
Prince Philip died on April 9 local time at the age of 99.
