UNICEF: On New Year’s Day, more than 370,000 “New Year’s babies” will be welcomed worldwide.

United Nations, January 1 The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on the 1st that on New Year’s Day in 2021, 371,500 “New Year’s babies” are expected to be born around the world.

UNICEF said that more than half of the “New Year’s babies” are expected to be born in the following ten countries: India (60,000), China (35,600), Nigeria (21,400), Pakistan (14,100), Indonesia (12,300), Ethiopia (12,000), the United States ( 10,300), Egypt (9455), Bangladesh (9236) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (8640).

Through the analysis of national census and registration data and the United Nations World Population Outlook report, UNICEF expects about 140 million babies to be born globally in 2021, with an average life expectancy of 84 years.

For the sake of the children’s tomorrow, the international community should work together to “make 2021 a fairer, safer and healthier year for all children,” said UNICEF Executive Director Foul.
