A U.S. Defense Department spokesman said the incident occurred in the Strait of Hormuz, when six U.S. warships were escorting the “Georgia” nuclear submarine through the strait, 13 Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps speedboats approaching the U.S. fleet, the two sides are less than 140 meters away, U.S. patrol boats with machine guns fired warning shots at Iranian ships before the latter left.
