January 8th – U.S. media reported on Thursday (7th) that Federal Government Secretary of Transport Zhao Xiaolan resigned, becoming the first cabinet member to resign after the riots in the U.S. Congress.
According to the Capitol Hill, Zhao Xiaolan said in a letter to the staff of the Ministry of Transportation that the president’s supporters rushed into the Capitol and the United States experienced a painful and completely avoidable incident.
The incident confused her so that it was difficult to stand idly by. Zhao Xiaolan said she would resign next Monday (11th), but her team will continue to assist President-designate Biden’s transportation minister to complete the power transition.
Zhao Xiaolan’s husband is Senate Majority Leader McConnell, who severely criticized the behavior of Trump’s supporters yesterday (6).
Since Trump took office, Xiaolan Zhao has been the Secretary of Transportation.
She has also served as Secretary of Labor in the Bush administration for eight years.
