U.S. federal prosecutors on Thursday (Jan. 14) made a new assessment of President Trump’s supporters’ intrusion into the U.S. Capitol last week, and prosecutors said in court documents that the mob intended to “capture and assassinate elected officials” at that time.
Prosecutors put forward this view in a document and asked the judge to detain Arizona man and Jacob Chansley, an “QAnon” conspiracy theorist, who was photographed standing in the Senate during the riots. On the desk in the conference hall.
The detention memo, written by an attorney at the Arizona Department of Justice, details the FBI’s investigation into Chansley, reveals that he left Pence a note warning that “it’s just a matter of time and justice is coming.”
The U.S. Department of Justice has linked 80 criminal cases to last week’s riots in the Capitol, in which Trump supporters broke into the Capitol’s looting offices, some of whom attacked the police.
