May 12, according to the “Central News Agency” reported that the United States important oil pipeline network attack has been suspended for 6 days, staff on the 12th manual release of some inventory of fuel. Fuel shortages continue to worsen across the southeastern United States.
Colonial Pipelines, the U.S. private fuel pipeline operator, stopped delivering 2.5 million barrels of fuel a day last week after a ransomware attack. Reported that this is to lock in the United States energy infrastructure in one of the most destructive cyber attacks.
The pipeline extends 8,850 kilometers from refineries along the Gulf Coast to serve consumers in the mid-Atlantic and southeastern states.
Colonial Pipelines reportedly manually opened some of the pipelines to release much-needed oil from Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey and North and South Carolina. The company said it had secured 2m barrels of fuel to restart supply and would resume operations “in real terms” by the end of the week.
The oil crisis has left gas stations in long lines and oil prices higher amid panic buying by motorists. And the end of May is Memorial Day, traditionally a symbol of the beginning of the summer driving season in the United States.
Nearly a third of gas stations in the Atlanta metropolitan area of Georgia and Rory and Charlotte, North Carolina, are fuel-free, according to GasBuddy, a fuel price tracking firm. The average price of regular gasoline rose to $2.99 a gallon, the highest since 2014.
