Combining Bloomberg and the New York Times on January 12, Twitter announced the permanent closure of more than 70,000 accounts mainly dedicated to sharing the content of QAnon conspiracy theories.
Twitter said the company was taking action to crack down on “posts that may cause offline harm”.
Twitter said in a blog post: “These accounts engage in sharing harmful content related to QAnon on a large scale, mainly committed to spreading this conspiracy theory throughout the service.”
Amazon is taking QAnon products off its website after cutting off the website hosting service of Parler, a social media platform favored by Trump supporters, according to the Washington Post, a process that may take several days.
