Turkey’s Defense Ministry said on August 4th local time that the Turkish military had dispatched landing craft to evacuate local residents affected by the forest fires to safety.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Defense said a forest fire in Milas District, Mulla province, Turkey, on Thursday approached a local power plant, posing a threat to the lives of local residents. The Turkish navy dispatched landing craft to evacuate local residents affected by the fire to safety.
The number of forest fires in Turkey has reached 174 in the eight days from July 28 to the present, the Forest Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry said in a statement Thursday. Of these, 160 fires have been brought under control and 14 are continuing.
