AUG. 5 2021 AT LEAST 11 PEOPLE WERE KILLED WHEN AN OVERLOADED BUS CARRYING ABOUT 25 PASSENGERS OVERTURNED ON A REMOTE HIGHWAY IN TEXAS ON THURSDAY, U.S. POLICE SAID.

The bus was traveling on Highway 281 in Ensino, Texas, on Thursday afternoon when it hit the side of the road and overturned, the Washington Post and Russia’s satellite news agency reported. Brooks County Sheriff Urbino Martinez said the vehicle, which can hold 15 passengers, was heavy-headed and the driver lost control when he turned the corner, causing the car to overturn. Mr Martinez said most of the passengers were migrant workers.

Nathan Brandley, a staff member with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said the death toll stands at 11 and more than 10 others have been injured. Martinez confirmed that the driver also died at the scene. Nsino is a community of about 140 residents about 3 kilometers south of the U.S.-Mexico Border Patrol checkpoint.
